In 2008, on the morning of the Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinement, Mike Haynes took a free prostate cancer test, offered to retired players by the NFL Player Care Foundation through the Urology Care Foundation (formerly the AUA Foundation). That test led to the discovery that he had prostate cancer.
Mike's cancer was detected early enough to get effective treatment, and now he is a survivor. Knowing that 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, and that African-American men are twice as likely to die from the disease, Mike now speaks out for men across the country about prostate cancer awareness.
As the official spokesperson for the Urology Care Foundation, Mike Haynes invites you to join fans and players to help spread the word about prostate cancer and the importance of early detection.
